I've been having my desktop for 2 years now and it is running Windows Vista and it used to run very quickly now it is very slow I checked for viruses there was none and I backed up all files and compressed the disk drive c and still it runs slow, what am I not doing to get my pc back fast like it was when I first purchased it.

What program did you use to check for viruses? Try to download an adware/spyware remover such as Spybot S & D as these are different then viruses and may not be detected by your current anti-virus software. You could also try to defrag the hard drive, I would advise against using vistas built in one, and go for an alternative such as auslogics.

Run msconfig and check your startup programs, get rid of everything but your antivirus and basics. how much ram do you have?
