CMOS starts loading screen goes black; pulled disk checked out ok & scanned for virus all OK; replace pwr supply; swaped memory, sd prayers over all to no avail.
Once in a while it seems to boot windows; screen flashes and goes black again. Tried reload of xp os will not recognize the cd/dvd drive.
Q: there is not reserve battery in machine and it appears from the skimpy doc that the reserve battery is also the CMOS battery but can no get and confirmation that it is so... And find not Dell ref to CMOS battery...
Hate to trash the unit but can not think of another sol'n.
Any help will be most appreciated.

Your backlight may be bad look very hard when the screen goes black can you see the windows logo or anything on the screen look in bright light
