Hi all, my external HDD has taken a knock from a book falling off a shelf above it. When I tried to access it today, I got a message saying the drive was not formatted so I found the drive in My Computer and opened the properties page. It told me there was no free space and no used space.

Someone suggested that it had lost its "file allocation table" as a resuilt of the knock and now cannot tell what's on there. I've tried a few data recovery programs but of the ones that can actually detect my disk, all i get is a CRC error.

I know you're supposed to keep backups of stuff, but this WAS the backup

Please help

ok, for some reason it seems to have sorted itself out now.
