my cd drive is showing in the my computer,but its not reading any kinda disc... not even able to boot.....help

..is your cd drive new or old?..is your cd drive a SATA or IDE connection?..TRY TO REPLACE NEW CABLE( SATA or IDE ) if it can't cure your prob..I THINK YOUR CD DRIVE IS DESTROYED, AND NEED TO BE REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE..i hope it helps!..^_^..

Hello,

Check the cables connecting CD drive.
Does the CD drive light light up?
Does the CD tray open?

before you buy a new one, set the jumpers on the back to 'cable select' and see what happenes.
