sony vaio pcg-8n1l will not turn on, removed battery no chnage, removed battery, no change, took 1 memory stick then did reverse on second, no change, checked voltage on power brick ok, tried new HDD no chnage,

Push start button make a tick sound, then both battery leds stay on, no blinking code noticed. I have a Toshiba the I can use a PPLED tester non post to get answers, but nothing like this for the Sony.

Is the unit a "total"? No sense putting money into a dead horse, so to speak.
any ideas appricated..
