HI

I googled "ram forum" and here i am :) Im just looking to upgrade an old computer for my niece. It only has 128 mb of ram! The comp has two slots and im thinking to upgrade to 512 mb(the max it will hold)
Im a bit at aa loss what ram to but. I went to crucial.com and it shows i need:

256MB, 144-pin SODIMM, SDRAM, PC133 memory module at 28.79!

then went to ebay and searced for the same and its comming up quite a bit cheaper but dont know if the specs are the same.

Any advice?

thx

so this old computer is a laptop ,correct
when searching google ,use this [256mb 144-pin SODIMM, SDRAM]and it should show the same .read the sellers description to be sure ,post a link to what you find and we can check it fur you

yeas, its a sony viao PCG-FX401 (PCG-972M)

It also says on the ram itself (100mhz, CL2) is this important?

thx for the prompt reply :)

yes that is important ,from what i see when i search the model #,it will take pc100 or pc133 ,maybe better to safe and buy the pc100 though, the pc133 would be faster but i cant say for sure it would work
