I don't really understand which socket is compatable with it. A site said:
"Only compatible with new Intel 965 and 975X socket 775
Motherboards (Older 975 boards are not compatible)"
Are they all socket 775?

There all socket 775 they just have different chipsets. As for which one's best is a matter of opinon. The best is the one that does everything you want it to without breaking!;)
