Hello everybody,

I have no image on the screen of my laptop but I am sure the screen is working fine because I have tried it on an other laptop (similar model). Furthermore the graphic card seems to be working because I do get images on an external monitor i am using now.

Does anybody have any idea what I can do to solve this problem?

I understand I could turn my laptop monitor into an external monitor but this seemed rather complicated so I would rather try to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Targeted troubleshooting notes for and .

Recommended sequence (least invasive first):

  • Verify POST/BIOS output and use the laptop display toggle key (Fn+display key) with any external monitor disconnected to confirm whether video is being routed off the internal panel.
  • Check the lid-close (magnet/Hall) sensor behavior — some machines keep the panel disabled if that sensor is stuck.
  • Inspect the display signal path: open the bezel, photograph screw locations, then reseat the LCD ribbon (LVDS/eDP) at both the panel and the motherboard. Look for fraying at the hinge and bent pins.
  • Identify backlight type before testing power: CCFL panels use an inverter board; LED panels use an LED driver. Only measure voltages if comfortable and the battery/AC are removed.
  • Isolate by substitution: swapping a known-good cable or panel is the fastest way to tell whether the fault is the cable, the LCD, or the logic board.
  • If reseating/swapping parts does not restore the panel image, the LCD controller on the panel or the motherboard video circuit is likely defective and usually requires board replacement or professional repair.

Safety and practical tips: always remove AC and battery and discharge capacitors where applicable, use basic ESD precautions, keep a parts map/photo during disassembly, and avoid probing high-voltage inverter lines without appropriate experience and tools.

I forgot to mention the backlight is working
