Depend on the specification of your computer.
According to Microsoft.com, for Vista Home, minimum 1GHz 32bit processor, RAM 512MB and 20GB harddisk (15GB free). But I suggest at least 1.5 GHz processor, RAM 1GB.
Why you have to double leap to Vista? Maybe Windows XP is a better upgrade from Win 2000
