Issue: Lost Thumbnail View Not sure of the cause but the effect is in Windows 2000 (SP4) when I click on a folder containing pictures (.gif or jpg etc) I used to see/view a thumbnail of that image and in web view I could see all the details of that item along with a thumbnail. Now I only see an icon in the main view and no image in the folder view. Poking around a bit I've seen a few references hinting that maybe Adobe Photoshop or Elements 2(I have both) may have hijacked the file associations. So far I've tried the following;

Run REGSVR32 THUMBVW.DLL

Run regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll

Reinstall Windows 2000 SP4

Reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements V2

No go! Any suggestions or other places to look?

Jeorold Schulman wrote me "Try tip 3871 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com" - It worked perfectly! It was a manual regedit for .gif, .jpg, .jpeg under Hkey_classes_root. I performed the edit, rebooted and all seems to work just fine. I used other reg entries as examples to go by. Please backup your registry before doing any registry editing! Note also one entry is for jpg and the other is jpeg which are two different entries.

AWESOME fix-- I can attest to this fix working-- my wife's machine had the same issue some time ago, and it works great afterwards!
