Hi,
I have a compaq presario laptop with ME. It's been working fine until the other day.
I booted it up, but the screen resolution is like safe mode. It is pixely. I have right clicked on desktop,gone to properties, gone to settings, changed the colour quality to 256, 16 bit then it says i have to restart so that these changes take affect. It has restarted, but has been the same.I have probably completed the same process about 10 times, varying colour settings etc..
I have also run virus checkers, scan disk and defrag but it is not helping.
Does anyone know how i can fix this?

Edit: I also have no sound at all!

Is the graphic card still installed properly?

sounds like you lost you video and sound drivers ,look in device manager to see if there are any problems indicated by a red or yellow ! mark .
to get to device manager ,right click on mycomputer /properties /hardware /device manager .
