Ok when ever i put a cd-r/rw in my cd drive it my computer reads it. but when ever i put a dvd-r/rw my computer trys reading it. it will make this nosie and stop make the nosise and stop. the dvd-r is 4.7 gb. none of my programs will rconize it. any reson why??:@

insert the same dvd-r onto another computer and
see if the problem is still the same...
but i think you dvd r-/rw is gone now...
its possible that it needs to be replaced...
