Running Windows XP for about two years with 3.0 Ghz CPU and 2 GB ram. Recently the display started freezing. CTRL, ALT, DEL does nothing to recover. At first I thought it might be the FireFox browser. I upgraded to the latest version. Then it would freeze when I was working on files. Then yesterday it froze when I was doing something and had menus showing. The only way to get back going is to hold down the startup button on the pc and shut it down and re-boot.

I haven't been into the box yet but I was wondering if maybe it had something to do with video card. Don't remember if it is a pci or is part of the motherboard.

Any ideas on what to check from anyone?

Thanks,
Harold

Do you have any temperature monitoring software?

Not sure. It is a Dell and has a lot of icons on the desktop. I am not there each day so I asked the person operating the computer to contact Dell and run the problem by them and see what they say.

Thanks,
Harold
