I am considering downloading a cleaner and of those that I have looked at CCleaner is free but is it the most cost effective product? Any advice welcome!

I'll move this to the 'Windows Software' section.

I'll also strongly suggest that you don't use that tool if you are a novice at understanding the hidden workings of Windows. CCleaner can detect non-existent Registry problems and cause system problems if not used carefully.

Stick with 'Disk cleanup', which comes with Windows.

I find CCleaner excellent. I agree that you should not mess with the registry part of it (Issues) unless you really know what you are doing, but they always ask you to do a registry back up. I had to use my back up once when I tried to fix some registry issues. But in clearing recent history, temp internet files etc, CCleaner works very well.
