Hi
I'm installing a new western digital WD4000YS SATA drive in a computer that did not have Sata drive, the mother board has the correct cable connection, but when I reinstall Win XP pro, I receive the following message IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
would this be related to the hard drive or do I have a memory issue?
any help would be appreciated

Hi
but when I reinstall Win XP pro, I receive the following message IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

so you get this error message after you finish installed of winxp

did you install the 3rd party drivers for the SATA from a floppy? It will blue screen right after it inspects the system configuration if you don't install the right drivers

When exactly during the installation process do you get this message?

Make sure the new hard drive is recognized in the BIOS.

Go into the BIOS and check the 'Sata Operation' setting, change it to 'Raid Autodetect/ATA' if it is not already. Now try to install XP
