Hello
Am currently facing a problem with my FF 6.0, whereby, if I want to save an image from any website, it does not pop-up the Save As dialog box, after I've clicked on Save Image As in the context menu. Same problem also if I click on Save Page As. Any one knows how to solve this problem?

Below is a short, practical diagnostic checklist (ordered by quick-to-run → deeper fixes) to isolate whether the missing Save As dialog is a Firefox issue or a Windows-level problem — compiled for the thread between and .

Start with two quick checks: (1) does Save As appear in other programs? Open Notepad → File → Save As. If that also fails, the problem is systemwide. (2) Sometimes the dialog is open but off-screen (common after using multiple monitors or remote sessions). Try Alt+Tab to select the dialog, then Alt+Space → M and use the arrow keys, or press Win+Left/Right to snap it back. See the common off-screen recovery tricks. (howtogeek.com)

If it looks Firefox-specific: start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode (Safe Mode) to temporarily disable add-ons and hardware acceleration; if the dialog works there, re-enable extensions one at a time to find the culprit. If Troubleshoot Mode doesn't help, use Refresh (create a new profile while keeping bookmarks/passwords) or manually make a new profile and migrate bookmarks. Docs for both Troubleshoot Mode and Refresh/Reset are here: Troubleshoot Mode and Refresh Firefox. (support.mozilla.org)

If the problem is systemwide: run the Windows repair steps from an elevated prompt — first DISM, then SFC — then reboot. Example commands:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

Running those often repairs damaged system components that provide file-open/save dialogs. Also test with a fresh Windows user account to isolate a single-user profile issue. (support.microsoft.com)

Finally, if Explorer context menus or file dialogs behave oddly, suspect a third-party shell extension (cloud clients, shell preview handlers, IM integrations). Use a tool like ShellExView to disable non‑Microsoft shell extensions, restart Explorer, and retest. Back up your Firefox profile (or export bookmarks/passwords) before refreshing or deleting profiles. (nirsoft.net)

If these steps don’t resolve it, collect exact details (OS build, Firefox build, any security/IM shell integrations, and whether the dialog is missing in other apps) and include the about:support page output when asking for further help.

Try updating the new version of firefox. Firefox 6.01

already updated but still having same problem, I also did a clean install of firefox again, but ditto

I think I found the source of the problem, not the cause however, it is my Windows itself which is doing this, from my IM client, am unable to open its "downloads" folder from the link it shows in my chat window, am creating a new topic for this in the Windows section
