I've been using an ancient old ADSL modem for a few years until it became too unreliable. This gadget simply plugged into the WAN port of my Netgear FVS318 firewall/router and all the ADSL config was done there.
The replacement modem - Netgear DM111p - appears to need to be configured with an ip address as well as all the authetication info that was previously the responsibility of the FVS318. I have managed to get this working quite happily by plugging my PC directly into the modem - but I can't work out what needs to be done to connect to the router.
The modem defaults to PPoE Bridging - which sounds right to me! I have disabled the authentication elements of the config on the router. I followed the manual and gave the modem an ip address that was the same as the router except that the third group of numbers is one different. (I can ping this address without a problem.) I have a WAN ip address and a gateway IP address that are reported by the modem. (I can also ping the WAN ip address.) I can connect to the modem over the internet.
The only thing I can't do is see the net from any device that is connected to the router!
I'm sure its a config issue - can anyone tell me how I should best set this thing up please?
