I have read several old threads on this topic and tried to follow the advice offered.
My PC's are both connected to a TPLink router via ethernet cables.
My printer is connected via USB to my old XP PC
After much effort and time I have succeeded to get both PC's to recognise each other.
BUT
Now I can only print via the new W7 PC and the old XP PC doesnt recognise that the printer is present.
Using the old XP PC , I can read shared files on the new W7 PC and copy & paste from old to new .
Using the new W7 PC , when I try to access the old PC I am asked for a user name and password, both PC's have the same workgroup name, but I didn't set up a password and as far as I can tell I have switched off all Firewalls, I think!!!
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
