Hope you can help me out. I cannot ftp from my Thinkpad, previously was ok. The last time I did it was maybe 3-4 weeks ago, I dont recall installing anything new or resetting anthing since then. Windows will issue error msg: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and I had to close the session. I am using ZoneAlarm. Any help is very much appreciated.

What has probably happened is ZoneAlarm is blocking your FTP port. Port 21
I did a quick google and found a set of insturctions to add the FTP address to allow zone alarm to let FTP work. Now this is assuming that the FTP server is on your local lan or intranet.
