Yeah casperjack is right. I'll prefer ntfs for larger drives .... (small ones arent used today).... ntfs has a bunch of features that fat32 doesnt.

You will have to format your system drive (in which xp resides) and then install a fresh copy of windows 98 ... you cant just downgrade windows xp to win 98.

Isnt AVG a good antivirus ??? then what antivirus would you recommend ... I wont install norton as it is too heavy for me.

I saw the site in your sig...I used both spyware guard and spyware blaster ... but quitted using them due to their resource taking ... I dont want anything to take resources REALtime.... Antivirus and firewall are an exception. Thats why I uninstalled microsoft antispyware.

I have a dial up connection and I'm not on all the time ... and sometimes I use my own dialup connection or other wise I use net from my LAN. And I dont use p2p programs either. But yes I download a lot of things .. softwares and bla bla ... no other such big risky work done on my pc ....

I have three windows( XP, XP, 2003 server) installed ... so I use two of them for testing purposes and one of them is used regularly.

Or you could go to safe mode ... right click my computer -- > properties --> advances --> startup and recovery settings and then uncheck "automatically restart" .... then restart in normal mode ... most probably you'll encounter a blue screen of death ... note down the error code and show us the error if present.

Here is the boot.ini file but it'll only work if :

your OS is windows xp
your hard drive is set in primary master slot
and your windows is installed in c drive.

just copy and paste the file in your c drive.

note : donot paste the zip file ... paste the boot.ini file.

pressing F11 in windows explorer and internet explorer will make the window full screen.

Dual boot is having two or more operating systems together on one system.

Dual boot system has an advantage that if one operating system doesnt start because of a problem then you can start the other operating system and repair the other. But dual boot is recommended only when you have large disk space. I have three operating systems 2000, XP and 2003 server.

What are you planning for ?? a clean install of win2000 or an upgrade ??? you cant upgrade to a lower version of windows ... so XP cant be downgraded to 2000.

For clean install you can install two windows on one partition but its not recommended.

The main difference is SP1 blocks out going attemps .and SP2 blocks them both ways ,
My opinon is if you have a good firewall and good Virus protection you don't need either SP1 or SP2 installed on you computer ,but if you want an updated winxp then SP2 is just that, a winxp OS upgrade ,and like any of the windows OS upgrades ,its best done on a fresh install ,that is why it has so many problems when people are installing it long after the orginal install of winxp.

I have sygate firewall and avg antivirus ... and ad aware SE .... is that enough ??? I just hate the blue screen of death in sp2 ... but it works fine with sp1.

A very basic firewall is also included in sp1. sp2 has a more advanced version of the firewall.
