I think System.exit is the quickest way shutdown apps in java. I usually disble the X button of the GUI and provide an exit menu for exiting.

You can right click your desktop ---> on the right click menu select New --> Shortcut ...

Constructors simply initialize your program ... intialize means that what do you want your program to do automatically when it starts ... for example if you make a GUI (Graphical User Interface) you'll want your program to display the window and all the buttons and fields etc when the program starts ... so you'll write all these in your constructor.

Make sure you have the correct action listener for the exit menu. It'll be action performed.

you can simply make an object of the class you want to use ... like this

Can you tell specifically which processes keep the cpu usage to 100 % ... even if it is for a moment or so ... there should be some process taking the cpu constantly.

The ram should be no problem .. .I had two with 133 and 100 mhz each but I had no problem.

How do you know nothing is available .. did you go to the dxdiag dialog and checked whether 3d acceleration is enabled or not ... I have the same card you have ... but no problem for me.

It's been a long time when I used linux but what I remember is that I used to shutdown linux with halt command ... is it still used or shutdown is the new command .... I've used Red Hat Linux 4 I think.

I think there's also a sotware to do it without uninstalling programs .... and it was system mechanic ... I am not sure cuz I dont have system mechanic now ... try it and tell me too.

Yes ... if you make about:blank your home page ... it'll load the default page .. you can see it in the registry .. somewhere like hkey_local_machine -- software -- microsoft -- internet explorer. and if the above mentioned parameter is specified .. the explorer will open with no page.

Yes you can connect databases in j2me.

I've noticed that when the exit windows and start windows sound is enabled ... the system takes a lot of time to boot or shutdown. You can disable these annoying sounds from your control panel -->Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds ... and make your system boot and shutdown faster.

This is a handy little trick you can use with Internet Explorer 6 to make it boot up extremely fast
Make a shortcut of iexplore on your desktop ... right-click on the shortcut to Internet Explorer and add the parameter '-nohome' to the end of the command line, like so:

Target: Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

you can shut down your pc from dos prompt like this :
type .... shutdown -s ( it'll give you 30 secs to save your work and then it'll shutdown)

for restart type shutdown -r
and for logoff type shutdown -l

for more options type shutdown only.

Yes I think Dani is right ... I would prefer an MBA IT degree after my BS in CS ... but before that I would be working on some certifications to refine my practical skills .... Experience will matter when I'll gain some.
