Most likely your html is not valid, and IE and FF deal with those errors differently, with IE being more successful at it than FF.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

And do remember that there is a place for whitespace. int[]variable is NOT good, I think it won't even compile.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

you can however generate html from pl/sql and sql/forms.
I've seen it run, but never used it.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

why would you ever need to know the previous value emitted by a sequence?
It's unlikely to remain the same for long enough to be of any use, especially in databases that see a lot of activity.

But if you insist, you can find the answer on page 3-3 of the Oracle 11g SQL language reference.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

For beginners, the best advice is to stay away from enterprise technologies until they have the basics down solid.

For those who insist, Oracle has a large number of tutorials on their OTN website. They're however closely linked to their own JDeveloper product, just like most new Sun tutorials are closely linked to Netbeans.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

not urgent.
And had you used proper coding techniques instead of scriptlets you'd never had had this problem in the first place.

You don't need any JDBC connections in JSP.
And you certainly don't want to keep a connection open past the lifetime of a single http request.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

this has nothing to do with JSP, so why do you post it in a JSP forum?
And we're not here to do your thinking for you. So tell us what you think and we may tell you whether you're right or what you are doing wrong.

Wiping yourself with the iPhone? Isn't that rather unsanitary?

maybe, but I can't think of anything else an iPhone would be even marginally useful for...

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

me too. Creating Swing user interfaces on the fly based on XML files (describing the components, which can of course be nested).

only time i use VI is when X crashes I prefer nano myself.

Anyone got any opinions on the MS tools? visio? project?

I use VI(M) every day, it's my standard text editor.

Never could get the hang of Visio, give me pencil and paper instead.
And Project is for project managers with too much time on their hand.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

Java will run anywhere you can install a JVM, and that includes Linux.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

better than recursive linking ;)

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

I've done my research into the industry, and have had some contacts in it.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

you don't "buy" JSP.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

it's a scam. But even snopes is afraid to stand up against someone claiming to be a "charity" who has big money for lawyers just eager to start defamation lawsuits.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

I don't know what paper is?

It's that stuff you get from social services telling you to turn in proof of your efforts to find a job or loose your social security :)

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

a brain to think up things, a notebook and pencil to write them down.
The best ideas come in bed, in the car, in the train, while hiking the woods, in all the places you just don't have a computer ready.
Besides, picking up pencil and notebook is a lot quicker than booting up a laptop, starting VI or Word, finding and opening the file to edit, editing it, and closing everything down again.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

still waiting for that project idea generator...

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

As long as the number of people lured into the industry by the idea of fame and fortune is enough to make up for the people leaving it for normal work weeks, life outside the office, and preventing burnout at 30 there will continue to be enough people to churn out games.

And yes, then there are the people who don't know anything else and can't adept to other work.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

First and foremost, don't tell them that you're "very good" unless you have the means to prove it.
Those pictures looks nice indeed, but they may be totally useless for use in a game.
Looks aren't everything after all, the number of polygons is vital as performance depends on keeping it down.

And don't expect to be hired for a top spot. You'll have to start at the bottom with the fresh graduate kids hopeful to make it big in an industry where most burn out before ever making a name for themselves.

That said, submit a letter of introduction with maybe some samples of your work to game studios.
If they need people with your skills they may well get back to you, if their HR flunkies can get the idea that anyone over 25 years old doesn't "fit in the young and dynamic team" because they're too old out of their head.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

ask anyone in the UK. Men, especially men under 25 who drive red cars generally pay more

yes. More speeding tickets, more tickets for tailgating, overtaking in the wrong lane, and other dangerous driving practices, more hospital fees after the next accident, etc. etc. :)

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

Sorry but you missed my qualification that stated you don't get to count anyone who joined the reserves then missed all the meetings (jumping to the head of the waiting list of 150 other Texans who were applying for AF Reserve).

Wrong. The Guard aren't reservists.
He didn't miss "all the meetings".

But your hatred of anything not extreme leftist blurs your vision to the point where you see only he shining white light over the head of Stalin and thinks it's a halo when in fact it's the KGB's desklamp they shine in your eyes during an interrogation.

the input will always be a String, as all input from the screen is read as Strings.
And as a single method call will reverse a String, this is really no problem at all :)

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

check your product documentation.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

By reading the content of the folder yourself using the methods available on the File class, and putting the data you get that way into some container which you can put in that frame.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

And to be on the safe side for the future:
It works that way in Oracle 10g and Oracle 11i as well, and in Oracle XE as well.

Not sure how technology is on your ends but I think a vtc would be an easy solution. maybe this solution has been brought up in the past and dissmissed for the obvious reasons, but their certainly seems to be a mutual interest for a meeting. The sum of a collective is greater than ............

Skype conference call should be easy to set up (though I don't have a webcam worth the name at home) but it's the meeting in person part that's fun.
A virtual pubcrawl just doesn't quite have the same appeal as a real one :)

any chance of getting bus + eurothunnel. Ive done that to go on a drinking trip in belgium before, but holland is further away, isnt it?

cheaper and faster to take a plane or (possibly cheaper, certainly faster) catch the fast ferry to Harwich.

Otherwise it's drive to the chunnel, which is quite a drive, or catch a train to Paris and from there the Eurostar to Ashford (nice town, been there) or London.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

aaargh, I'm surrounded by alcoholics :)

Let's let this thread fly off into the sunset.

make sure what you want first.
Your topic and actual question don't match.

The one requires you to create a two Calendars, change one, and return its value, the other to just take one field from the Calendar and compare that to the same field from another Calendar.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

yes, but not by just making everything one massive huge class.
Create a proper design, use composition, defer functionality to contained class instances, etc. etc.

I'm certain there are lots of them. Afterall there are 1.8 million civil service employees not counting postal service. That has to include thousands of prior military people.

Secretary of State: Colin Powell -- retired General.

Of the others found here, you'll have to research them yourself.

Including the president himself who was a fighter pilot assigned to continental air defense.

interesting statistics but i dont believe it. Seems to pro-us , especially the line

well, south vietnam was defeated, the us faught a bloody war for many years, and north vieynam is still communist to this day. I call this a defeat.

The US military didn't loose a single engagement in Vietnam.
The US was defeated politically, not militarilly.
And it was defeated most of all by its own politicians placing rules of engagement on the military that made it impossible to make strategic gains.
Because of politically imposed constraints the USAF could not attack NVA air defence batteries and airfields for example, for fear that Soviet and Chinese crews there would get hurt.
The US Army was not allowed to hold ground taken from NVA forces, so they never gained a strategic position. Instead the grunts would storm up a hill under fire, clear the gooks from the top, and be lifted out by helicopter.
A week later they'd have to do it again when the gooks put fresh troops on top of that hill.
Such engagements were highly predictable. Their was no doubt that US troop strenght and firepower would win, all the communists had to do was kill enough of them to make (in combination with leftist propaganda, another area where the US politicians and public were their own undoing) cause the US public to get tired of the conflict and give up the struggle.

Had WW2 …

I should arrange a daniweb UK meeting. Who lives in the UK apart from me, serunson and happygeek ???

It's a bit of a long swim across the North Sea, but I'm probably closer to Brighton or even London than a Scot.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

it should help.
Rewrite that entire piece of garbage to proper standards.
If you still have problems, maybe someone will help you.
But I'm not going to "fix" rubbish like that to make it seem to work, as it's fundamentally broken at a conceptual level.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

I get more wrong because I assume the people making up the ROEs are wusses who'd rather have their own people get killed than offend some foreigner...

Most here are running fully integrated patient management systems and central planning software.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

Nope. You're not going to get anything but a massive spanking for writing such rubbish!

How often do we have to repeat that one should NEVER use Java code in JSP?
And NEVER means NEVER, and that goes for you too, not just for others.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

pl/sql developer is a more powerful product, with advanced features that the free product lacks.
It's also a lot more expensive at several thousand dollars per seat.

For a school project, even Oracle's free SQLDeveloper is overkill.

ah, the leftists are down to their usual practice again, uttering lies and abusive language in an attempt to bully others to stop telling the truth which they don't like.

"neocons" are the ultraleft wing of the Republican party, people who're more leftwing than most so-called "Democrats".
Iraq was a necessity. It was in fact mandated by the UN resolutions determining the terms to the 1991 ceasefire, and should have been initiated in 1995 when Iraq broke those terms.
But Billyboy Clinton was too weak, too soft, to do what needed be done.
Had he done his duty as commander in chief and president of the US Iraq would have been free and at peace in 1996, 9/11 would never have happened as AQ would have been destroyed in their hideouts in Afghanistan after the embassy bombings and the attack on the Cole.
Clinton gave AQ 5 years to prepare their network to survive the onslaught they knew would come after 9/11, he gave them the time to prepare their operations in Iraq.
There's your draftdodger behaviour.
