Hello All,

I erased one RW cd disk and am trying to burn new files on it. When I try to burn, Nero says the disk is not empty, would you like Nero to erase ? Even after erasing one more time, the same message comes again and again ? How to solve this ?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Operating System - XP Professional SP2
Computer - IBM ThinkPad T41

Suddenly the computer's sound device stopped working. On the control panel - Sound devices, it was saying "No Sound Device". This was strange, so I restarted the computer. After restarting the sound device was working properly when I tested with windows media player. After I closed the windows media player and restarted again, it stopped emitting sound. Again the control panel said "No Sound Device" found. I restarted and again the same cycle. If I keep any sound device working then it keeps working but only for one duration.

I noticed something else, in the device manager, the computer name tab says "Networking device not installed or not configured properly". This is related to sound device. When sound device is working networking has no issues and when sound device is not, even networking is not.

I don't know what the error is. I am not that computer literate in technical matters. Please if anyone of you have any idea then help me.

Thanks in advance.

I think Adobe Acrobat installs Yahoo tool bar. When you get the prompt to upgrade Acrobat, just see what all it is installing and Yahoo toolbar will be there.

I don't know what is the conection between Yahoo and Adobe

Hi All,

I am having a weird problem since two days. I keep my google mail open whole day as it refreshes itself and I get to know about the new mails.

But now if I keep Gmail open and work on other windows, Gmail keeps popping up windows which has nothing but this hexadecimal something

"7cca69475363026330a0d99468e88d23ce95e222591126443015f5f462d9a177186c8701fb45a6ffee0daf1a178fc0f58cd309308fba7e6f011ac38c9cdd4580760f1d4560a84d5ca0355ecbbed2ab715a3350fe0c479050640bd0e77acec90c58c4d3dd0f5cf8d4510e68c8b12e087bd88cad349aafd2ab16b07b0b1b8276091217a44a9fe92fedacffff48092ee693af "

The URL in the new browser window is

"http://b.mail.google.com/mail/notifier/notify?&at=7edb6eb29d5ef27a-1092f9603a6&RID=rpc&SID=4C6DC19D09A0095C&CLOSEIMMEDIATELY=1&AID=0&TYPE=html&zx=rzk8b8zcq1q5&DOMAIN=mail.google.com&bcsi_scan_A645A1DE57B5D047=jkXHqY3ict6sgU237qWNdicAAADl/Esj"

The most weird thing is that when I go back home and use the internet at my home, this problem does not occur. It happens only at my office internet.

I am going nuts ! , please help

Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

I had not used my webcam since long and yesterday when I plugged it in, I found it is not working. The screen remains blank. When I tried using the 'camera & scanner wizard' of windows it showed the picture for a moment then vanished.

The cam works properly in other computer. I have uninstalled and installed the driver many times, restarted the laptop thousand times but none seems to help. The device manager tells me that USB port are working properly, never the less I even updated their driver.

Anyone got any clue ?

thanks in advance

Hi All,

I am facing a new problem, just out of nowhere, I noticed that the sound which comes when you click a link in any website or open a folder, is now no more coming from my computer.

The laptop speaker is working fine, I can listen to music, even sound comes when the pop-ups are blocked. Earlier this 'Click' sound was coming whenever I used to open a folder or click a link in the webpages.

I have no idea what has happened, everything was working fine before.

My computer is IBM THINKPAD T41 with Windows XP SP2 (professional edition)

Thanks in advance

Hi All,

In my workplace, I can use Yahoo Instant Messaging but I can't view other people's webcam or show my webcam to others. The message comes that you are behind firewall. But what I think is that if I can do IM then webcam should work as well.

Have they blocked only the webcams and if yes how it is blocked, I mean which port no they block for blocking the webcam.

Has anyone ever seen Google Suggest before? http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en

As you type, it suggests possible queries, and actually shows the number of results for each query. Pretty interesting.

Wow, this is interesting and quite helpful too. Google is really racing ahead day by day.

Having links to your site in your signature also helps build link popularity ;)

are we normal members of daniweb allowed to do that..I thought it is not allowed to mention your website name in your posts..I had mentioned in my first post which was removed by admin

Thanks for the replies..from today my blogsite has started coming in Google.I have put up links to my blogsite at few of the places and also today at daniweb.

Thanks once again

I thought that any site which is on Net would be indexed by google.I think this might be the reason that my site is not listed in any other site. But there are lot of links in my blogsite as I give the references from where I take information.

How to get links pointing to my blogsite??

greenhorn 0 Light Poster

Thanks, DanceInstructor.
I had asked them this question and they merely gave me the link of their help page.Lets hope they reply to your ticket.

Someone told me that you don't need to subit your site to google, even then I submitted it something like 2 months back yet it is not getting listed.

Neither the full url << http://www.---------.com >> nor this one << http://----------.com >> is giving any result.

do you think blogspot ppl are not allowing me to do this..I have already checked all the settings,

Hello All,

I have one blogsite, nothing great about it just my personal journal.I put a post there almost daily occasionally putting up few pics as well. The problem is that my blog never comes in google search.Even if I put one whole sentence of my post in google it will never search it.Then I myself put the whole URL on google and it still says page not found whereas my blogsite is there since months.

You can check it as well << url snipped >> if you put this in google it will say page not found, how is this possible.

If someone wants I can send the whole source code which itself is not mine but taken from blogspot. My friend's blog comes in google but why not mine???

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I am at work now and noticed that fan is not always working here..and its so quiet...and at home it makes noise.something like humming noise and if i take my hand i can feel it is fan...

Actually apart from the noise what bothers me is that i might not ruin the laptop...at home i also run bit-torrent clients(you know what they are for :D ..) but at work since it is office LAN i dont run it..once i thought it is due to bit-torrent but i closed the bit-torrent and fan was still working..but i think i should investigate further..

on a side note does the room temperature also affect cause at home i keep my laptop on bed and use it and bed is near to the radiator. :D ..

Its not that noisy but i was worried cause the laptop is not mine .it has been given by my company .they gave me brand new and will take back when i go back to my own country in my own office where i have desktop...

Thanks Cat..

I dont know but i might have written something foolish to evoke that sort of comment.I am not that conversant with computer jargons and the fundamentals. The fact is that today whether you are a computer related person or not you always works with a computer. It basically has become a desk and created problems for me.

Thanks for your help and i think if i the problem persists i would contact the local call center of IBM.I dont know what PentiumM is but its written in my computer Centrino Mobile Technology.

Thanks..

Hi All,

My computer is IBM Thinkpad T41 laptop. The problem is that the CPU fan is always on and this is very irritating as i hate the sound it makes. When i check on the Tasmgr it does not show that much CPU Load to make the fan work.I dont know what is the problem and what would be other repurcussions of the fan always working.

Please suggest me something in this regard..

Hello,

I once again need help of you all.Well today i noticed that one new problem has occured, the font size and shape when i open any IE window has changed,i think it has become smaller.Even if i open any HTML page saved on my comp it has the smaller font size.

I didnt do any settings change it was that i searched something on google and when i saw the page the sizes were so small.I tried with internet options but there isnt anything that i can do. Please tell me how to restore it

I was getting lot of update notification and i used to update them and i think all these problems are due to that only so now i have disabled the update from the services section.Even the font size in the services window has become small.

One more thing the language bar always comes up by its own and then i need to go to toolbar to uncheck it.I dont understand when i dont check the language bar why it comes up by itself after reboot and most of the times while i am doing something.

Please help me,Thanks in advance

Hi All,

I managed to get the calc.exe from one of my colleagues and put it back into the c:/windows/system32 and now i can get calculator fro start-run-calc.But when i tried installing it through add/remove accessories when it asked for calc.exe i pointed it to the newly pasted one but it doesn't accepts it says that it need only CD for some calc.chm file.

I did the same with sndrec32.exe and from start-run-sndrec32.exe i can get the sound recorder. I found that there is one more sndrec32.exe in
c:/windows/servicepack/i386 ..dont know why it is there as well.

Can something to be done to get the calc in accessories drop down list ...though for the time being i can use it through start-run-calc.

Thanks for your replies...

greenhorn 0 Light Poster

Thanks caperjack,

I did as you suggested. The sound recorder was simple windows recorder. Both calc.exe and sndrec.exe were not there and when i tried installing them through Control panel-add/remove program/windows accessories it asked me to insert the XP accessories cd.I dont have that CD with me.

My laptop is IBM THINKPAD T41 which i got from my employer and the OS was factory installed and so i dont have any CD with me.Since i am in foreign country i cant go to the System Admin of my company.

Is there somewhere else where i can get those .exe files ??

Thanks once again.

Hello All,

I was having Windows XP Professional SP1 which got updated to SP2 when i agreed to the update querry without realising what it is going to update.

THe problem is that now i dont have calculator in the Start-Program-Accessories- which was earlier there.I am not sure that this happened due to SP2 but since i changed nothing in my computer this seems to be the reason.
Please tell me how can i get the calculator back... it was very handy.

Second there was one nice thing to record sound in my laptop in the Start-program-accessories-entertainment ...this one is missing as well.

Thanks for the help

Thanks a ton for the help.
I took a printout of your reply and did all the steps as u told and i think everything is fine now .
I think i should give some additional information for things to be clear.Actually i work for i2 Technologies,Inc as Demand Planner consultant and presently i am in Finland.
I have Oracle8i installed on my laptop and we use Lotus notes to check our official mails.
iplanet is the LDAP which is used for user authentication used for i2 products like DP or SCP.
cww.i2.com is the default homepage of ours as it is the intranet of our company.
