Daniweb is custom made I guess with vBulletin forum.

Go to your Admin Panel > Edit Features and Options > Check "Search engine friendly URLs" > Click "Save" .

hmmm choose for a .com domain if your visitors are not that much into web. as most of people would go typing a .com .

Well u can`t be sure , As promediacorp said inbound links do matter much . Suppose you have linked from 4 site`s it means Search Engines (SE) come`s to your site 4 time`s while crawling them . As far as I know Page rank depends on this .

PR mainly increase`s based on the content and the site`s linking to it , like if you have Pagerank 2 and u get linked from a PG 7 site u`r pagerank may get increased . The best way is to post in high pageranked forums (like u`r doin now :mrgreen: ) and use link exchange .

Use mod rewrite so that your pages are edited from php to html extension and then shown to user . It`s something you do with .htaccess file ( i`m not that good at php :o )

My friends blogspot page is indexing fine and i`ve seen many blogspot pages being shown during searches , so it`s probably not the blogspot problem .
Try having site`s linked to your site which are now indexed in google

ok now I`m not spamming or something..... I happened to visit their forum it showed a popup sort of ad in this thread . when u take mouse over the double lined green word a intellitxt ad pops up .

ok now I am asking this `cause i want to have that in my site but not for ads, for wikipedia . like if some difficult word is there, when we take mouse over the word it shows the synonym in pop up . Actually I saw this meaning pop-up thing in Trillian messenger :mrgreen:

Well not exactly bad , Infact I liked it . but had some probs on my side , like it sometimes didn`t show up the admin panel in firefox . i donno why though :(

Second being it`s a heavy site for personal use , and I don`t think I need a portal right now .

Hi I`ve done with nuke, xoops, mambo etc for a year now . Now choosing from site like OpensourceCMS n all is pretty messy . ;)
Can you suggest a CMS for a personal site , blog will do too . I`m thinking of wordpress , but it`s 1.5 is in beta stage so can`t install premade templates with satisfaction .

TIP:

1. You can link to the index.php with the normal image tags.

2. If you upload these files to a folder called pic.gif you will be able to use it on forums by using the url www.yourhost.com/pic.gif and it will run the index.php and output the image, Useful if the site or forum don't allow php images or html code.

3. You can enter any no. in counter.txt the image will show that much hits !!!! LOL

1. First save a blank .txt file named counter.txt

2. then open notepad (or any PHP-editor u use) and paste this code :

3. Save it as index.php or anything u like just with .php extention

4. Now save the 3 files index.php , counter.txt & this image in a folder and upload it through FTP to any server supporting php.

5. Grant counter.txt CMOD 777 ( right click in FTP > properties > all previlages)

6. Then call index.php in your browser . that`s it :cheesy:

HI I downloaded a script that shows image of User`s IP and requires no DB they said in the read me to just upload it on a server .. but the thing is when I upload it shows many errors .... and I think it`s because i didn`t edit a fille counter.txt

When I opened the file counter.txt it was blank :-| .. and in the readme it`s said that :-

To install this script upload all of the files
to the same directory on your server.

CHMOD 777 counter.txt so that it can be written to,then call index.php in your browser.

Now what the hell is CHMOD 777 :rolleyes:

I have the fantastico thingy in my linux host :) so there`s whole lot of cms abt 20 i think just click install LOL !

BTW i`m using PHPnuke from last one year ..... i don`t find anything hard in that tho it`s pretty heavy(18 MB something) CMS compared to drupal n all .
