>is debian like a command line interface? It is if you don't install X. If you're going to install Debian, I recommend downloading the net-install CD anyway. There's no real reason to download all 20 CDs unless you're installing a lot of X applications without an internet connection.

More information, please. What was the source format of the video (what you inputted into the converter), and what format did Aimersoft output the video as? Did the converted video have any green, or did this problem only occur after it was uploaded to YouTube?

Yeah, that is odd. Why did Microsoft create XP when there was nothing wrong with Windows 98? :icon_rolleyes:

Have you ever considered that there isn't necessarily a Linux operating system that corresponds with each Microsoft Windows release?

fopen, then fread() or fgets() depending on what kind of file you're trying to read. Why don't you go look it up, because I don't feel like helping someone who's too lazy to even bother posting their questions in the right forum.
I'm sure there's gotta be some viruses out there, they just never made the news. Kinda like a lot of the Mac-targeted viruses up till fairly recently. You're referring to the compiler bootstrapping process, which is a sort of chicken and egg scenario. The gist of it is that early compilers/assemblers were written in machine code in a very basic form, then used to compile more complex compilers. Nowadays there are usually more sophisticated methods for bootstrapping …

Actually, text editors are completely unnecessary. Who needs an editor when you're equipped with 'cat' and some perfectly good redirection operators?
localhost:~ $ cat > textfile the most user-friendly way to enter text! ^D localhost:~ $
Oh, and as an added bonus, 'cat' uses 9 KB less disk space than …

npviewer.bin is part of the Adobe Flash plugin for Linux, and there's a known bug which causes the Linux version to use up oodles of CPU even when idling. Adobe hasn't bothered to fix it, so basically the only workaround, short from uninstalling it, is to kill the npviewer.bin process …

In order to accomplish that, you'll need a root shell. If your root account is enabled, you can authenticate yourself with 'su', otherwise just run "sudo bash" (or whatever shell you prefer) and enter your password. Once you've obtained the root shell, you can run the source command and proceed …

You can't exactly map each Windows directory to a corresponding Unix directory, but here's an article that goes over the uses of most of the common directories in a standard Unix filesystem. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-speakingunix11/

Don't bother. The next operating system that you install on the hard drive will almost certainly wipe out the MBR that contains GRUB you're noticing right now. If you really must do it, boot up the Linspire CD, obtain a root prompt, and enter the following:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 …

If you intend to run calc.exe ON the Unix server, you'll need some sort of emulation/translation software first. Assuming that your Unix server is capable of executing Linux binaries, one program that comes to mind is VMWare Server. It's free, you don't need an X11 environment to run the server …

You'll want to create two partitions: an HFS+ partition for the Mac data, and an NTFS partition for Windows. I'd recommend using Time Machine to keep your Mac data backed up onto the Mac partition, and Windows Backup (or whatever you use on Windows) for XP.

The first thing you should do is install the Apple Developer Tools. It's included on one of the installation discs that came with your Mac, or alternatively, you can download it from Apple's website.
