my son gave me this pc , I am trying to play a game but it seems i am missing something called direct3d. can this be downlaoded free somehere on the net?

Direct3D is a part of Microsoft DirectX series. You should check out the game's requirements on which DirectX version is required. Then use google to find an appropriate download. It should be available to download for free (And distributed along side almost every game that requires it. Have you checked your folders on your CD or whatever the game is on?)
