I have a gateway<->gateway IPSEC VPN running between 2 offices and the first gateway (BiPAC 7404VGO) will also host PPTP VPN connections as well. I need to be able to route PPTP traffic with a destination to the second gateway through the gateway VPN to services in that second network. At this stage no routing occurs when trying to access the second office subnet from the PPTP VPN. All clients are using Windows XP or above and there is an SBS2003 server on the first subnet attached to the first gateway. At this point I have a choice of using …

I have a Gateway P-6860FX laptop that is not booting. I previously had a blue screen hardware error the night previous while gaming (Screen glitched up with horizontal lines, went to blue screen). The next morning I attempted to boot it, but it went to start-up repair. There the screen was weird and had similar horizontal lines that were in the normally black area around the repair box (moving mouse around caused weird glitchy effects). It tried to restart after that, and it did not boot. Now it continues not to boot. The screen turns "on" (lights up black), and …

Hello, First post here, but I've found many answers on this site. Sorry in advance for any vague information, I'm dealing with my neighbor's PC that I'm not too familiar with. He asked me to come over to deal with a virus/malware issue. It was the Security Suite malware, the one that scares you into thinking you have a virus and blocks a lot of things on your PC. I copied MBAM on a flash drive and installed it on his PC in safe mode, and removed everything. I also installed a copy of Avira anti-virus free software, and updated …

I have a 2 year old Gateway desktop. Usually the power light blinks. For the past 2 mornings, the PC will not power on unless I do a cold start a couple of times. Also, now the power light no longer blinks. Can anyone tell me what is probably wrong? I feel air coming from the 2 fans in the back. AFter it starts working, it seems fine. But I am afraid that one of these mornings, it will not power on, no matter what I do. I don't trust the local computer repair shop because the last time that …

Hi guys, I have a server running Asterisk that does not have wireless, and I don't have easy access to my router (it's in my roommate's bedroom). I successfully configured a DHCP server on my netbook, which could give my server Internet access (which I think would make it a gateway). Now I have two questions: 1. How can I access this server from another computer in the network? 2. If I forward port 80 and 22 on my router and try to log in from outside the network, will I be able to reach the server by my external …

Ok, So I bought this gateway laptop a year ago, and the warranty ended a few days ago. It is a MD2614u. This does not happen all the time, but most of the time. When I hit the power button, all lights come up and the screen turns on, but it doesn't go anywhere from there. It just gets stuck in there. It does not make any difference if I start up with just the battery or the AC. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

OK. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of. I have had my Gateway desktop for 5 years. I have never had any issues until I had to replace my graphics card. Now it won't power up. The fans run, there is a little orange light, and the disk driver light blinks. BUT it won't come on. I am at my wits end. Info I know (it was a gift and I am far from computer literate) Gateway model GT4022 Windows XP operating system 3gb Ram Nvidia Graphics card It doesn't have a lot of stuff on it so I …

Taiwan-based computer manufacturer Acer has some big plans to storm the top tiers of global PC companies with its announced acquisition plans of Gateway. Gateway, for those who don't remember, is based in Irvine, California, but started out on a farm in the Midwest. The acquisition plans call for Acer to purchase all outstanding shares of Gateway at $1.90 a share, putting the net total of the proposed merger at approximately $710 million. The Acer/Gateway plan, pending all the usual standard closing conditions on a deal of this size, could be done by the end of the year. The proposed …

Gateway currently holds about a 6% to 8% market share of PC sales in the US, and derives about 80% of its income from PC sales. After a lengthy period of unprofitability, the company has recently shown improvement, but is it enough to maintain its independence as a corporate entity? Cheryl Mayer at News.com thinks not. Recent changes in direction for the company have see it acquire eMachines, close it's chain of retail stores and adopt the practice of selling its PCs through retail chains instead. Gateway focuses on sales to consumers, and has not had much success in selling …
