If your site i having a sitemap, it becomes easy for crawler to visit and index all the pages in your site..!!

A sitemap has a benefit for the search engines as well. sitemap will let the Google robot see how pages, such as those in the fourth and fifth level, fit into your site. If you link to your sitemap page from your homepage, all of the pages listed in your sitemap will be no farther from your home page than the third level. This will encourage Google to index your entire site.

some pages ( internal pages ) may not be accessible by search engine. to tell them the exact location of content with url google introduce concept of sitemap. it works

When you add it to webmaster tools you have a good tool to follow and review your website in the search engines.

We can introduce our site page by site map.

In my own experiences, sitemap is really helpful for deeper indexing purpose for your sites. It also helps in indexing purpose on Bing.com.

All the best,

It will be easy to the user to navigate your site.

Site map will help your site to index soon by search engine. It will reduce to time of crawling.

A sitemap is simply a list of your pages in a single page layout. When a visitor goes to your site they can access the sitemap to find any pages that they are interested in viewing. Usually the sitemap is to benefit the people who visit your site and give them a quick and easy way to navigate your site.

Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In other words, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional meta data about each URL so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.

Sitemap is an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.

Visitors will have an easier time to navigate your site with the help of site map.

I honestly think the sitemap ( in the case of dealing with Google ) is just another tool that they ( Google ) have put out there to drive people mad... There No1 in the world and it takes months for your site to get Indexed.. Then as said above " They dangle the carrot" with sitemaps..

Im using one with a new site... Interesting to see what happens!

From a search engine optimisation perspective there are a number of benefits for using a Sitemap:
* Your website gains easier navigation and better visibility from search engines.
* You get the opportunity to have your content changes indexed faster. Through the sitemap you basically inform search engines (SE) immediately about any changes on your site.
* A Sitemap gives you more freedom regarding your relation to external links, which usually have the role of bringing SE to your site.
* It can be of help with accidentally broken internal links or orphaned pages that cannot be reached in other ways.
* It is of high importance for new sites to have a Sitemap: it speeds the process of indexing pages.
* It is of great help in classifying your site content better. Although it does not mean the SE will necessarily classify a page as belonging to a particular category or as matching a particular keyword only because of your sitemap, there is an increased likelihood that they would.

Generally, sitemap is created for search engines. When search engines robot visit your sitemap page then easily find links of all inner pages as well as main pages. It helps robot to crawl all pages at a time without any problem. And such sitemap helps to increase SERP therefore most of the webmasters use sitemap.

Site maps help users navigate through a Web site that has more than one page by showing the user a diagram of the entire site's contents.

Sitemap help to Search Engine easily crawler and visit and index the pages for the site.

it is a graphical representation of the structure of your website. It shows how the pages are linked to one another. But such a representation may be difficult to implement, and if there are so many pages, may be even difficult for a visitor to find useful. So, a SiteMap is created by listing all the links of all documents and files found in a website. These links are typically organized in a hierarchical manner, thus improving readability.

The Google sitemap is a new type of sitemap that you can use on your website. This sitemap works a little bit differently than traditional sitemaps. The Google sitemap is a file that is on your site's server that shows all of the pages on your website and their attributes. This will allow Google to read the file and know about all of the pages on your website. Not only can you list all of the pages on your website, but you can specify how much each page is updated and what the index priorities are for each page.

Sitemap is for a website like an index is for a book. Is usually in XML and helps the crawlers to fully crawl your website. And each search engine has it's own sitemap requirement like google wants your sitemap to be in XML and named as 'sitemap.xml' whereas yahoo wants it to be plain text and should be named 'urllist.txt'

Also it will let the Google robot see how pages, such as those in the fourth and fifth level, fit into your site.

Hi,
The Site map allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling and a site map is a document details the various pages on a website and how they link to each other. This helps both visitors find pages and search engines to index a site or crawl a site.

Thanks
Mark
