Short answer: a video can help, but only when the page around it is set up to convert views into visits and search visibility. asked about traffic; and rightly noted that video makes a page less static. Beyond that basic point, focus on indexability, performance, accessibility, and measurement so the video actually drives repeat traffic and SEO value.
Make the video text-searchable and crawlable: include a verbatim transcript and a short written summary on the same page, and add structured markup so search engines can understand the asset (see VideoObject). Also submit a video sitemap and follow Google’s video structured-data guidance to improve chances of rich results (Video structured data, Video sitemaps). Add Open Graph/Twitter card tags so shared links show a proper preview.
Pay attention to delivery and UX. Use a responsive player, lazy-load the heavy player behind a poster image, and serve video via a CDN or adaptive formats (HLS) if self-hosting. Avoid intrusive autoplay, ensure captions or a transcript for accessibility, and keep the page light so Core Web Vitals don’t tank. Track plays, watch time, and click-throughs with analytics events and UTM-tagged links to know whether the video moves traffic or just inflates time-on-page.
Practical checklist: add transcript + summary, implement VideoObject or sitemap, optimize poster/thumbnail, ensure mobile playback, add a clear CTA near the player, and measure results. Also confirm rights for any music or clips used. These steps turn a decorative video into a traffic-and-conversion asset rather than just “something cool” on the page.

Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya ... blog's a great spot for a interesting video. Put the video on Youtube and link your Youtube video from a well-constructed blog posting. Make sure that, while you are iin Youtube, that you compose a Description and craft a Title for your video, put it in the right category etc .. Away you go ...
The idea of the video on the blog is to make it non static. You are actually driving the traffic from Youtube sites where it links to your blog.
