I wanted a good search engine ranking and, in one of my websites i created index.html file and

(1) placed this code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<head>
<meta name="keywords" content="Habehsa, Abesha, Ethiopia Website, Eritrea Website, Ethio Media, Eri Media, Ethio Web, Website Ethiopia Eritrea, Habesha Entertainment, HabeshaWebsite, Addis Website" />
<meta name="description" content="HabeshaWebsite.com | Web Design, Web Hosting, Domain Registration, Advertising &amp; More " />
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/xhtml; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>HabeshaWebsite.com | Web Design, Web Hosting, Domain Registration &amp; More </title>
<link href="layout.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/rollover.js"></script>
</head>

<body>

Habeshawebsite.com </p>

</body>
</html>

According to my search on how to make a page appear top in search engine,

first was a good meta and title structure ( Check above if i can improve that )

Second was to add my url on google http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

Third was To make as many links as possible on other website.
So, for this reason, i create a link for this website on other 6 websites

Now despite doing all this, what puzzles me is the fact that none of my competetors ( People with similar domain name as mine ) have anymore advanced techniques advantages as i have ( to be honest this website is about a year old and i put the index file about a weak ago, )but still i should get better search result than this.

So, tell me what you think.

Sorry for boring you with all this text

Your title and meta description is same. According to me you can target few more keywords with your description tag. Avoid stop words from title like &. Your title is seems like definition because you are using & more in last. As i told you that you should avoid this type of line. Use only your main keywords or keyword phrase in title. And remaining keywords can use in description with suitable sentences. Dont put your other keywords in description tag like first keyword, second keyword, third keyword .....

Thanks

The Title & Description targeted words are not found in the page or a h1 tag first of all. So the perceived relevance of the title to the page is low in the first place. Also, the description itself is not particularly well formed, and the title should probably be reversed (with the most powerful textual context for search at the start of the title)

Thank you both for your ideas, but if it is not too much to ask can you copy and paste the code ( by adjusting it ). And the main word is i want search engines to look for is " Habesha " or " Habesha Website ".

Plus i was hoping if you could tell me, other techniques other that the ones i've mentioned so far.

Thanks!!

try this:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>HabeshaWebsite.com | Web Design, Web Hosting, Domain Registration &amp; More </title>
<meta name="description" content="HabeshaWebsite.com | Web Design, Web Hosting, Domain Registration, Advertising &amp; More " />
<meta name="keywords" content="Habehsa, Abesha, Ethiopia Website, Eritrea Website, Ethio Media, Eri Media, Ethio Web, Website Ethiopia Eritrea, Habesha Entertainment, HabeshaWebsite, Addis Website" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/xhtml; charset=UTF-8" />
<meta name='REVISIT-AFTER' content='30 DAYS'>
<link href="layout.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/rollover.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
Welcome to <a href="http://www.HabeshaWebsite.com" title="">Habeshawebsite.com</a> </p>

sorry, i made 1 tweak

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<meta name="description" content="HabeshaWebsite.com | Web Design, Web Hosting, Domain Registration, Advertising &amp; More " />
<meta name="keywords" content="Habehsa, Abesha, Ethiopia Website, Eritrea Website, Ethio Media, Eri Media, Ethio Web, Website Ethiopia Eritrea, Habesha Entertainment, HabeshaWebsite, Addis Website" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/xhtml; charset=UTF-8" />
<meta name='REVISIT-AFTER' content='30 DAYS'>
<link href="layout.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/rollover.js"></script>

I can never figure out what

<meta name='REVISIT-AFTER' content='30 DAYS'>

means, but do you think i there is more i could be doing beside all of this to improve the search engine?

i have other 6 websites and in each of them, i placed and index file and said
" This websites is parked, for more information please visit " [ link to my website].

on all six of them, because i heard you need more links for Google to fine the site.
Do you think, i should put more links on other websites? If yes, the only idea i could come up with is that to go to forms, and comment site and put a link to my site ( which sounds ridiculous ) but i am out of ideas.

Again, your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Special character like & should not use in meta tags, title shows your website theme so use some suitable word in title which is also your main keywords. Description means your website theme summary, so you can also use keywords in description, but don't push by force, make sentence with keywords in description section, and keywords you can use keywords.
