If you produce quality content on your site, the backlinks will be created naturally by other people on the internet that are interested in linking to your pages. You can also get involved in forums, use social networking sites to promote your site, etc...

Use fresh or quality content for your site and use user-friendly design and content for website. You can promote your business on social sites like facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc...
Do seo tasks like directory submissions, social bookmarkings, forums, blog commenting, artcile submission, etc. But always do submissions on high PR sites, it is helpfull for create quality backlinks.
