This is my first post (ever!). I recently acquired an iPod Touch (8Gb 2nd Generation model). Although not previously an Apple fan I must say this is a tremendous piece of kit. However, one feature gives me cause for concern. The iPod Touch is a wireless device and I can download my emails, surf the web, etc using my wireless router. This is great but what about viruses? Can a virus be downloaded to the iPod Touch in the same way as a PC? It is obviously a different type of operating system. Should I be worried? Do I need to install some software on the iPod? If so, how? I'd be grateful for advice, please.

In theory yes, in practice, it doesnt really happen.

It runs a cut down version of the OS X operating system used on macs

Thanks. I'm grateful for the quick reply.

Yeah, OS X has very few viruses, so im guessing the version on the ipod touch probably has less.

Most likely way in for a virus would probably be a dodgy app you download
