Im running a Amd athlon xp 1.53 mhz system with 1 512 and 1 256 ddr memory cards under xp por service pack 3. I get a message saying that im out of memory and that my virtual memory size is being increased when i have nothing running.

Check task manager->processes to see what you have running in the background; if you find something that doesn't fit, kill it. Just dont kill system tray,iexplore, System, etc... You likely have adware eating your resources. Hope this helps, Mav.
