Hi, I'm new here, and I have a problem I see as pretty strange:

I have an old Toshiba Tecra 8100 laptop and the two batteries I have for it are winding down in their ability to hold a charge. I ordered one over the web, and the machine apparently does not recognize it as valid because it won't light up the battery light at all, nor charge it.

I've actually sent two of these back (for the same reason) and am on #3 and it behaves the same way.

Is there something in the laptop itself, boot prom maybe, that prevents it fom using third party replacement batteries?

(I can't even get into the boot prom - I've tried every key I can think of, and all I can get is the boot devices menu, which is useless.)

Any/all suggestions welcome.

Thanks.
