I think this post is in the right spot if not excuse my ignorence im stupid with computers. If i leave my compy on for a while it goes nuts and the xcreen goes black and a whole bunch of little a's with a \ over them start appearing i think it is over heating can ne1 help me please

Dust is the most likely cause of overheating, do as caperjack said, blast some air through the vents on your case to un clog it, or open up your case, and use a hoover to remove any and all dust and dirt. How many fans do you have in your machine?
