Hi
I have a problem with a Acer travelmate 5720G. One of my friends powered of his laptop by pressing the power button and now it doesn't see the hdd after post. I originally thought that it was the hdd, but Ireplaced it with a new one and still the same result. Tried to sue the recovery cd's created when he bought the machine but gets to 96% and then gets this error message "restore failed reason 0xf0000005". Also tried installing XP pro slipstreamed but still not able to see hdd.

System specs
Intel core 2 duo 1.8Ghz
1Gb DDR2
160Gb Samsung HDD

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Dave

Well have fixed the problem....good old Ubuntu. There seemed to be a problem with Windows seeing the sata hdd after post. I had this once before where a hardware problem stopped windows in its tracks but linux found a way around the problem.
