So basically I want to get some kind of screen to which i can connect my laptop for an extension of the desktop and also connect an xbox 360 to, and be able to switch back and forth.
any way i can do this?
to clarify, have one monitor act as both a tv and computer monitor... preferably be able to get cable too :P

What connections do you need?
for example DVI for laptop, composite for XBOX360 and scart for cable. Look for these connections when buying the TV. You should be able to 'flick' through these by changing the 'source' with a button on the remote or TV.
