Good question, and caperjack is on the right track. Two different things can appear at power‑on with AMI firmware: the vendor splash logo and the text‑mode AMI POST banner that starts with "American Megatrends." You can hide the splash, or hide the POST text, but you cannot remove POST entirely because the firmware must run before the OS loads.

Try this, in order:

  • Enter Setup (usually Del or F2 at power‑on).
  • Enable Quick Boot (this shortens tests and reduces how long the screen stays up). You had it set to Disable, which actually makes POST slower.
  • If your goal is to hide the AMI text banner, set Full Screen Logo or Quiet Boot to Enabled. That replaces the AMI text with the motherboard logo. If your goal is the opposite (to see detailed POST messages), set that option to Disabled.
  • Set Wait for F1 if Error to Disabled and Halt On to No Errors, so keyboard/CPU fan warnings do not pause on that screen.
  • If present, set POST Delay Time to 0 and Display Option ROM Messages to Disabled to shorten or suppress add‑in card messages.

Tips based on what jemz saw:

  • If you still see the AMI banner even with the splash disabled, that is normal; you are looking at POST messages, not the splash. Pressing Tab on many AMI boards toggles between the logo and POST text during boot.
  • Any hardware error (loose SATA cable, missing keyboard, failing fan) will force the AMI screen to stay until you acknowledge it. Check the bottom line for prompts like "Press F1 to continue."

Only consider a BIOS update if you are troubleshooting a known POST hang, and make a backup of current settings first.

Look in the BIOS setup for a setting to disable sit /splash screen /or enable quick boot something like that ; once disabled, the
normal POST screens will be displayed.
