I tried to reboot up my Compaq Armada 1592dt 233mhz when i replaced the hdd. instead of a boot i am left with a constant beep. I have removed the additional ram but that makes no difference. I have also removed the hdd but again no difference.

well, one thing you can try. Unplug it, take the CMOS battery out, and let it sit overnight. Try it again in the morning. If you still get the beep code, system board is gone. If so, you got your moneys worth.

Thanks very much. If the cmos battery thing fails to fix it i might try repairing it with a sledge hammer.
