Greetings;I just spent about 4 hours doing a straight forward xp-pro install!
I had file read errors "file *.* wouldn't copy try again? etc, etc. It turns out that three of my new and fast dvd/rw/rom drives didn't do very well copying windows file in PE environment.
An older cd-rom saved the day and gave me a good install. Am I missing something? Am I just too cheap? It seems if you cant use a drive to install an o/s there is something wrong with it.
Anybody want to hold forth?
Rik

I often find, and I mean often, that by taking the disk concerned, washing in warm sopay water, rinsing and drying with a tea towel solves the problem.

Sometimes (and I mean only sometimes), I put a cleaning CD (the one with flail heads on the surface) into the drive to clean the lens.

Usually as simple as that. Hope this is your case too.
