almost all linux progs are not compatible with ms types. For basic office work the open office in linux will rad adn write to ms office files. Ther eis the 'wine' program inlinux that will run under linux quite a bit of windows software.
I use Kubuntu whch looks verylike windows is stable nd does what I want but do bear in mind that linux is a totally diofferent kettle of fish and as such needs to have programs that ar written for linux and not ported from MS. However there are a lot of very good linux progs out there go fio it!!
