When I set the status of the messenger to “Away or “Appear offline it changes to Online by itself, and will not go back to “Away. I am using version 6.2, and it used to work fine but now it started doing this by itself, I have not added any other software.

my advice to you is totally un install this program and all files.. run a scan with spybot, adaware or window washer.. then re-install the program.. this will get rid of any gremlins on your pc that may be affecting it !
