It seems I can't escape the problems on my PC these days. I just formatted my C: after it became really messed up with virus after virus.

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my system and everything is working great apart from one stupid issue:

every time I change the screen resolution to the highest on my 17" LCD screen, it freaks out, flashing and jumping behind an error message: Input Signal Out of Range.

What's the deal?

Thanks guys

:)

If you are sure that your monitor can handle the resolution, the only other culprit that comes to mind is the refresh rate. From the Personalization control panel click on Display settings and then the Advanced settings button. Click on the Monitor tab and set the refresh to 60hz and also put a check in the box beside 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display' then click Ok(or Apply and Ok)
