I have a Razer Lachesis mouse and use Windows Vista, although I don't know if this is a Vista related problem. It has been working fine ever since I got it a few months ago. Its supposed to be a high end mouse which cost about 80 dollars. But for the past few days it just moves all on its own. I will be using it, and then it just jumps "up" on the screen. I have no idea what to do. I updated the drivers and everything. =[ I use Avast AntiVirus and Windows Defender and the computer seems clean of nasties. Any advice?

Hi there Helltech, have you checked the mouse to ensure that it is clean? Sometimes mice can get dusty where the sensor is and this can cause jumping pointers. Also are you using a reflective mousemat as these modern mice don't approve of them! Hope this helps!

Yes, if what majestic said isnt the case (which it probably is) try just uninstalling the hardware and then installing it again.

Optical or Ball?

Try a new mousemat - one thats JET black and uniform in texture (not shiny!)

What is the make of the laptop?

I had this problem before, it was caused by a transparent mouse pad i was using causing the cursor to move and jump all over the screen. Try changing the base on which your mouse runs on, like a new mouse pad, a different table top etc.
