I have been attacked by a virus:

file path&name: c:\a.bat
name: malware-gen

Its a virus!!!

And whenever i enable the option to show hidden folders it doesn't work!! I cant see my hidden folders unless I type the full path on the address bar!( Used the folder options but it didn't work!)

Please HELP!

go into folder options and uncheck the following:
'hide extentions for known file types'
'hide protected operating system files'

and check the following:
'show hidden files and folders'

do this in safe mode and see if you can manually delete the virus file

In my opinion Avast is great for home users as long as you are updated.

Which part "didn't work"? You'll have to be more specific. Also have you tried the other software suggested?

the other softies suggested is also very handy .
if you still have problems download combifix here
install on desktop and run it in safe mode. dont do anything when combifix is running, dont even move your mouse . when all is done post a log here
