Ok,,,,,,,,, really wierd....... whenever I try accessing yahoo.com, or google.com, for some reason it forwards me to some site called "cpanel" and the message on the site says "There is no website configured at this address." The address bar on IE still displays google.com or yahoo.com even though this happens as well. I'm positive this is spyware....... but how do i take it off?????

As reported, hitting google.com or yahoo.com brings up a hosting control-panel page that says "There is no website configured at this address" while the browser still shows the original URL. and rightly suggested scanning, but also run a few targeted checks to find whether this is a hosts/proxy issue on the PC, a router/ISP DNS problem, or a local infection that changes name resolution.

Do these checks in order:

  • Check the hosts file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. Make a backup copy first, open it with Administrator rights, and remove any lines that map the affected domains to other IPs.
  • Verify DNS resolution from the PC using nslookup or ping. If the returned IP belongs to a web host and the browser shows a cPanel page, the name is resolving to a hosting provider.
  • Flush DNS and reset the network stack, then reboot the computer.
  • Inspect Internet Explorer proxy settings (Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings) and disable any unexpected proxy.

Go to lavasoftusa.com and download Ad-Aware. Then run a full system scan. It will and remove the ad and spyware from your system. Good luck
