On my son's Laptop there is a file called C:\winbkup which at 3.70GB takes up a quarter of his hard drive. Can this be deleted, or will that completely mess things up?

probably a restore file for some kind of back-up program. I'd change the file name (add a 1 to the end) and reboot. If you have problems boot to safemode or a recovery console and change it back, if you don't experience problems wait a week and delete it.

Hi,
If (as I think) you have just upgraded your sons computer from win98 to XP then it is a program that allows you to return your computer back to win98 and can be safetly deleted. If you have not upgraded then I don't know so follow the advice above.

Yes i think that is correct.....

After you delete a file that big MAKE SURE TO DO A DEFRAG STRAIGHT AWAY!!
