I need to access safe mode so that i can configure some things..
the thing is when i restart and try to press F8, nothing happens.. i press it over and over and it still does not let me choose safe mode, it just loads xp everytime

can anyone help?

To use the System Configuration Utility method

* Close all open programs.
* Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
* The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
* The computer restarts in Safe mode.
* Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer

Some computers (Dell, for instance) have a different method for getting to safe mode.

The old method still works too though. Same on IBM/Lenovo boxes

By the way, you may not be able to get into safemode if you have a USB keyboard
