I have been having trouble trying to fix an older dell inspiron laptop with windows xp installed. The laptop runs fine, but microsoft word, excel and powerpoint freeze when they are opened. None of the programs can be forced to close by ending the process tree either. I have scanned the computer for malware (adware, viruses, trojans etc.), and I have also monitored the windows processes in the task manager but the computer is clean. I've uninstalled and reinstalled office and it has not worked either. I have also system-restored the registry to a point where the programs were responsive, but this did not help either. I am truly stumped by this one, and I would rather not reformat the entire computer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

if your window is ok then try to installed another fresh copy of ms program.
