This file recently appeared in my c:\windows\system32 folder. Does anyone know what it does? I've searched Google to no avail.

If you select the properties of that file and then select the Version tab, what does it show?

There is no version tab, just General, Compatibility, and Summary and they don't tell me anything useful. BTW, it's part of my startup (if I look at the registry or msconfig). I'm running the latest Network Associates VirusScan and it doesn't have any problems with it, either.

It might be a self-extracting archive for Microsoft ATL (Active Template Library). Are you able to open the file in WinZip, WinRAR or other archive tools? Although it still is strange that it appears in your startup.
